Garlic Chicken Chinese
Chinese garlic chicken is a popular dish that is often made with bite-sized pieces of chicken breast that are stir-fried with garlic and a variety of seasonings. It is typically served over rice or noodles and is known for its savory, garlicky flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons peanut oil
- 15 gloves garlic, peeled
- 3 tablespoons Shao-Hsing cooking wine or dry sherry
- 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
- 1 1/3 cups chicken stock
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Heat a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Add the vegetable oil and swirl to coat the pan.
- When the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces to the wok and stir-fry for about 5 minutes, or until they are cooked through and no longer pink.
- Add the soy sauce mixture to the wok and stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and coated the chicken.
- Season the chicken with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish the chicken with thinly sliced green onions, if desired.
- Serve the Chinese garlic chicken over rice or noodles and enjoy!
